“Goldenrod has a special place in American history: A tea made from the plant became known as a “Liberty Tea” in the wake of the Boston Tea Party. The plant was so popular in the US that it was once in the running to be named the national flower of the United States.”~ Stephanie Hoffelt in the Goldenrod Issue of Natural Herbal Living Magazine
This is a version of “Liberty Tea”, the tea that became so popular after true tea became unavailable after a bunch of Americans dumped tea into the harbor and the English said “no more tea for you”. This tea has a very similar flavor to black tea, only many more health benefits. Red Clover and Nettle Leaf are both highly nutritious and townifying herbs that help support and build good health and vitality. Goldenrod is anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and has a beautiful flavor, among other virtues outlined in the Goldenrod issue of Natural Herbal Living Magazine. Wood betony is a beautiful nervous system tonic, and red root is a fantastic lymphatic. Although the Americans sought to find a drink with a similar flavor to their beloved tea, they also did themselves a huge favor by drinking this delightful tea.
Ingredients (all organic): Goldenrod (Solidago gigantea), Red Clover (Trifolium pratense), Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica), Red Root (Ceanothus americanus), Wood Betony (Stachys officinalis)
Directions: Place 1-2 tablespoons of the herb blend per 1 cup of hot water. Pour just-boiled water over the top. Allow to steep 10-60 minutes (The longer it steeps the more nourishing it is). Enjoy 1-3 times a day as desired, hot or cold, sweeten as desired.
